HF 600 Watt Solid State Linear Amp

I’ve been planning for a little while a HF power amp project. Depending on size restrictions I may limit the device to certain bands, rather than comprise on band filtering.

Through eBay I’ve picked up 10 Motorola MRF150 RF Mosfets, some research on the web lead me to a number of projects specifically the amp of k0gkd, and it’s from his website I’m basing my project. I’ll be posting everything I discover whilst building it, so you should be able to replicate what I’ve done.

    I have built K0gkd (motorola EB104) amp.
points to watch: use 10 turn pots for the bias (this is a must), I also fitted some small ferrite beads on the bias supply to the fets- this stopped self oscillation.
Communications concepts in USA do a kit of parts.
Copper heat spreaders are expensive but necessary.
make sure caps decoupling 50v supply line are rated at 100v and physically bigger that the ones Communications concepts supply. mine blew up at one stage so I replaced them.
Take your time with the build.
    Regards Dan
